Lab announcements and updates.
Two papers accepted at IEEE Photonics Conference (IPC) 2026: "Silicon Photonic Optical Phased Array with Apodized Grating Antennas for On-Chip LiDAR" (oral) and "4-bit Photonic Analog-to-Digital Converter on a 300 mm Silicon Photonics Platform" (poster).
Dr. Hossain gave an invited talk at IEEE RAPID conference titled "Towards Foundry-Compatible Photonic Neuromorphic Computing: Architecture, Advances, and Implementation Challenges" (paper). Dr. Hossain also served as Chair of the Hybrid Photonic/AI Accelerator Architecture session.
Md Mufassal Ahmad is joining the lab as a new PhD student starting Fall 2026 — welcome!
Kevin Biju, an Aerospace Engineering undergrad, just finished his summer internship in our lab. He built a proof-of-concept LiDAR system from discrete parts — laser modulation, polarization optics, phase detection, and galvo beam steering — with support from the Northeast Regional Defense Technology Hub (NORDTECH) and Griffiss Institute.
Lab website launched.
Dr. Hossain received a $220,000 award from ND EPSCoR as PI of the project "Photonic Integrated Circuits Test & Characterization Lab" (Award ID: FAR0038152, Project ID: ND0031839).
