About
The Guided Light Integration, Design, and Experimentation (GLIDE) Lab is led by Dr. Jobayer Hossain at the University of North Dakota. We design, fabricate, and characterize photonic integrated circuits (PICs) for computing, sensing, and communication applications, with current work in reconfigurable PICs, quantum photonics, optical interconnects, AI accelerators, and photonic neuromorphic computing.
Dr. Hossain previously worked as a silicon photonics device and circuit designer at AIM Photonics and Phase Sensitive Innovations before joining UND in January 2026. Since then, the lab has grown to several graduate researchers and is building a PIC test and characterization facility on campus, supported by a $220,000 ND EPSCoR award. Fabrication runs through multi project wafer (MPW) foundry services.
